The 'Choose Healthy?' app from the Nutrition Center allows you to easily scan, search, and compare products in the supermarket or at home on the couch.

WITH THE APP:

BARCODE SCANNING AND SEARCHING: READ THE LABEL EASILY ON YOUR PHONE
Tired of squinting at the fine print on labels? The app displays the nutritional values and ingredients when you scan a product's barcode. You can also search for a product.

MAKE HEALTHIER CHOICES: ALTERNATIVES AT A GLANCE
You can see by default if a product fits into the Wheel of Five or not. For products that don't fit into the Wheel of Five, you'll be shown healthier alternatives.

INGREDIENT CHECKER: SET ALLERGEN OR INGREDIENT PREFERENCES
If you have an allergy or intolerance to consider, you can easily select that you want to focus on gluten, milk, nuts, fish, or another allergen. You can also set other ingredients you want to watch for such as palm oil for environmental reasons or alcohol due to health concerns or pregnancy. You can select added sugars and salt, useful if you want to reduce sugar or salt intake. You can also use the checker if there's something you don't like.

FISH OR MEAT PREFERENCES
Want to know if a product contains meat or fish, or if it's entirely vegetarian? You can indicate this in your profile.

YOUR OWN SUPERMARKET: SEE RELEVANT PRODUCTS
You can specify which supermarkets you shop at. This way, you won't see other supermarket brands when searching for a product.

FOCUS ON NUTRITIONAL VALUES
You can specify in the app which nutritional values you want to pay extra attention to. This includes energy (calories), fats, saturated fats, carbohydrates, sugars, fibers, proteins, and salt. The nutritional values that are important to you will always appear first in the app. Ideal if you want to consume less sugar, for example.

COMPARE PRODUCTS: EASY EVALUATION
Using the Comparison tool in the app, you can compare properties of up to 3 products. You can compare nutritional values like the amount of sugar, salt, or fat. You can also see if the products are part of the Wheel of Five.

SORTING: HEALTHIER CHOICES FIRST
When searching for a product, you can sort the results based on nutritional values. This way, you can easily see which product has the least sugar, for example. Additionally, you can sort alphabetically or by relevance.

FILTERING: SEE ONLY WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR
While searching for a product, you can filter the results by the Wheel of Five, supermarkets, brands, product categories, and ingredients. For instance, if you filter by Wheel of Five, you will only see products that belong in this category.

CREATE FAVORITES
If there are some products you frequently search for, mark them as favorites so that you can quickly find them again.

INTEGRATION WITH MY FOOD DIARY: ADD PRODUCTS
If you use My Food Diary as an app on your phone, you can easily add your chosen product to your food diary.
